RE:RSLinx OPC

To get RSLinx to connect to a DFNT module you will first need to configure a driver in RSLinx.
1) Select "Remote devices via link gateways" for the driver type in RSLinx. This will give you a driver name of TCP1.
2) From the pull down menu in RSLinx you will need to configure a DDE/OPC topic. You will give the topic a name, and for the controller type you can select a Control Logix processor type. You will then set the path to the previously configured driver in RSLinx.

Now your topic is configured. You can then use this topic in some application (for test OPC tools works well).

This type of configuration will allow you to use the CIP level tags (Int_data[x], REALData[x], SINTData[x], etc...)

NOTE: Not all devices will support this type of messaging. This type of messaging will work for Control Logix processors, Compact Logix processors, and of course RSLinx as a driver for a SCADA software package.

Appedix E of the user manual shows this procedure.

RE:RSLinx OPC

The ProLinx Startup Guide, DFNT Protocol User Manual, and HART User Manual should give you all the information you need to set up a connection between the ProLinx 4207-DFNT-HART module. No OPC configuration is required. You can download the latest copies of these manuals from the following link:
