MV146-DFCM to Elpro 905U-G Radio Module

The set is using a SLC5/05 with a MV146-DFCM module (in slot 6) connected via RS232 to a Elpro 905U-G Radio gateway.
I need to know, to be able to communicate between a DFCM comms module and a Elpro Radio module, are the RTS and CTS lines required. The Elpro Radio gateway is set to Master and the DFCM is set as Slave. The manual for the Elpro 905U-G indicates that theses lines are not required for the radio module to communicate but do they need to be connected for the DFCM to operate.

RE:MV146-DFCM to Elpro 905U-G Radio Module

If the device attached to our MVI46-DFCM module does not require the use of RTS or CTS lines, then neither does our module. On this module, they are provided only for devices that need them.

There is a concern when using A-B DF1 Half-duplex protocol over radios; especially if they have 'store-and-forward' capability enabled. The DF1 protocol has a transaction number embedded in the message. With some radio systems, this transaction number can get 'out-of-sync'; that is, the module may detect a mismatch in transaction numbers and discard the offending message as invalid. If you are experiencing difficulty maintaining reliable communications over long periods of time via 'store-and-forward' radios, this might be the cause of your problem.
