MVI46-DFNT

Need help communicating to adroit SCADA system.

I have a number of questions regarding the above unit.

A customer has a problem connecting to the Adroit SCADA system. Have you got any application notes on achieving this.

Also is the pass through port able to communicate onto the data highway plus. The customer has a SLC504 in the chassis. Would a programmer be able to go over the ethernet and communicate to the plcs on data highway plus network.

Please repond ASAP.

RE:MVI46-DFNT

Sir:

Prosoft has no information about the Adroit SCADA system you mention. If it has Allen-Bradley Ethernet IP drivers, or if it can use RS Linx, then your customer should have little or no problem making it work. If it does not use A-B Ethernet IP, then this module will not be able to communicate to it.

The pass-through port on the module will allow you to use an Ethernet virtual comm port driver on a PC to encapsulate A-B DF-1 serial messages, and send them via Ethernet to the module. Then, the module will strip off the Ethernet wrapper and pass the DF-1 serial messages to the Channel 0 port of the SLC CPU. It does not, however, provide for further bridging through the SLC to the DH+ network. It will not allow you to do what you ask.
