MVI46-MNET - configuration transfer error
I have connected to the module using XP HyperTerminal and can upload the MNET.CFG file to my PC. This does not work exactly as mentioned in the manual. I set the transfer-receive file option to a directory with no MNET.CFG file in it and as soon as I select SEND from HyperTerminal (MNET module) the file is transfered. I have tried to transfer a modified CFG file back to module with no success. I select RECEIVE from HyperTerminal (MNET module) and then select transfer-send option and select modified MNET.CFG file and after a short time (about 30 seconds) I get "Error limit exceeded". The configuration of the module is unchanged.

RE:MVI46-MNET - configuration transfer error
If the upload works, there is no reason why the download should not work as well.
First of all, be sure you are selecting "Zmodem" as the transfer protocol in the Hyperterminal "Transfer|Send File" dialog box. This is automatically selected for you when SENDing the file from the MVI56-MNET to the PC...the HT "Transfer|Receive File" starts automatically, in this case. But, when you need to send the file back from the PC to the MNET, you have to tell HT to initiate the file transfer by using the "Transfer|Send File" option, selecting "ZModem" as the transfer protocol. Also be sure you keep the filename as "MNET.CFG". No other filename will work.
If you do these two things and still have the same problem, try a different PC. The best results are reported by users with desktop PCs, running Windows verisions prior to XP, and with real, 9-pin (DB9M) serial ports rather than trying to go through USB-to-Serial converters.
If the problem persists after all this, please contact ProSoft Technical Support at 661-716-5100 or e-mail a description of your problem and your MNET.CFG file to support@psft.com

RE:MVI46-MNET - configuration transfer error
Thank you for your feedback. I have succeeded to transfer MNET.CFG from PC to MVI46 using a PC with XP but a real serial port (I was using a USB to serial converter).

RE:MVI46-MNET - configuration transfer error
We often get reports of users having trouble trying to do file transfers through USB to Serial converters. Some work well, some don't work at all, and some work only sporadically. Desktop PC with real 9-pin serial ports seem to be the most reliable. Some users have reported success by unchecking the FIFO buffer option on their port configurations in Windows Hardware (Device) Manager when they were having trouble with file transfers from laptop PCs.
