5102-DH485-MCM3 Modbus on RS485 Problem
If I configure Modbus port for RS232C and test the communication using PC, it works but when I change the Port setting to RS485 and connect the PC using Advantech ADAM4520 (RS232C/RS485 converter) then I get timeout errors on PC. The connection is as shown below
PC (RS232C) --> (RS232C side of ADAM4520)
RS485 side of ADAM4520 --> Prolinx pins 1 &8 (2wires)
In the Diagnostic screen of Prolinx for the Modbus port, both the command and response strings get displayed but the PC does not receive any data.
ADAM4520 has Auto Direction Control and does not need RTS/CTS switching.

We are sorry you are experiencing problems. Unfortunately, not all RS232-to-RS485 converters are created equal; and not all of them work with our module. We suggest you try another converter. We have generally had good luck with products from B&B Electronics, Telebyte, and a few others.
