Main and Aux Antenna Diversity on Radiolinx IH radios

I have read that the Main and Aux Antenna ports on the IH radio are for Diversity. I want to use both ports at the same time and point two equal dB antennas at 90 degrees to one another. One antenna is going down a shaft and the other is pointed at the next station. Is this possible? OR do I have to use a splitter on the MAIN antenna port to accomplish this?

RE:Main and Aux Antenna Diversity on Radiolinx IH radios

Our RadioLinx Technical Support Engineers reply:

The AUX port on the RLX-IH radio is receive only so you will need to use a splitter connected to the MAIN port if you want to communicate with directional antennas in 2 different directions
